James joined TurksLegal as a Partner in the Banking team on 1 July 2014.
James specialises in all areas of corporate restructuring and insolvency law. He has extensive experience in providing legal and risk management advice to secured lenders in connection with the management of non-performing corporate loan exposures, ranging from debt restructuring solutions and distressed debt trading to the enforcement of securities and the recovery of debt.
Over the course of his career, James has acted on numerous high profile and complex insolvency administrations and restructurings encompassing all aspects of corporate insolvency, including liquidations, receiverships, administrations, deeds of company arrangement, schemes of arrangement, and informal workouts in distressed situations.
He has also had significant experience in a number of other areas of legal practice including corporate advisory, banking and finance, and banking and insolvency-related litigation, including the conduct of liquidators’ examinations and investigations.
Prior to joining TurksLegal, James spent several years as a Senior Legal Counsel at National Australia Bank during which time he led a team specialising in corporate debt restructuring and recovery work. Before that, James spent much of his career at a top tier, (now) international law firm, practising in its Restructuring & Insolvency and Corporate Advisory Groups.
