Michael joined Turks in 2008 and is a Partner in the Life Insurance, Superannuation and Advice practice group.

Michael has over 10 years’ experience specialising in life insurance, including death, trauma, total and permanent disablement, income protection and loss of licence products and disputes involving other life insurance products. Michael assists clients with respect to litigation and complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service and Superannuation Complaints Tribunal. He has also successfully conducted and defended appeals to the Federal Court from the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal’s determinations.

Several of Michael's cases have become authorities on the interpretation of 'total and permanent disablement', the relevant date for determining total and permanent disablement claims, the meaning of ‘reasonable retraining’ and the date from which interest is payable.

Michael is also a regular presenter at seminars and client training, and his articles on life insurance have appeared in various publications, including Wickens Law of Life Insurance in Australia.
