Sam joined TurksLegal in 1989 and is a Partner in our Employers Liability group.
Sam has practised for more than 25 years in workers compensation, work injury damages, dust diseases, and workplace relations law.
Sam works closely with both large and small employers and their insurers in a wide range of industries. His experience in workplace law allows for an integrated approach to solving clients’ issues, which is not limited to a narrow focus on workers compensation or WHS but extends to all aspects of an employer’s workplace legal needs.
Sam represents building and construction industry employers and their insurers in the Dust Diseases Tribunal of NSW in relation to asbestos- and silica-related diseases. In acting for NSW Health Service he has developed a particular expertise in matters involving latex allergy.
Sam provides advice and training to employers in relation to employment and industrial issues such as interpretation of industrial awards, drafting contracts, managing workplace change, and investigating allegations of workplace bullying, discrimination and harassment.
Sam is a regular contributor to seminars and conferences, and has published articles in professional journals. He is also author of the TurksLegal publication Workers Compensation in NSW — A Guide for Insurers and Employers, now in its 10th edition.
Sam has been recommended in the Doyle's Guide as ‘Leading Dust Diseases Lawyer (Defendant) - New South Wales, 2018’ and ‘Leading New South Wales Defendant Workers Compensation Lawyer 2020'.
