Blake Lamont from TAL is the winner of the 2025 ALUCA Turks Life Insurance Scholarship (ATLIS)

Blake, Corporate Counsel, has taken out this year’s prestigious ATLIS with his outstanding paper on ‘TPD Sustainability’.

His well-researched submission stood out among a strong field of entries for its timely focus on one of the industry’s most pressing challenges, ensuring the long-term sustainability of TPD insurance in an evolving market.

This is TAL’s third win in the 19-year history of ATLIS.

As the winner, Blake receives an overseas conference package valued at up to AU$10,000 including return travel, accommodation, AU$1,000 cash and registration to one of the following conferences in the United States:

  • 2026 Eastern Claims Conference in Boston, Massachusetts
  • 2026 Life Insurance Conference in Tampa, Florida
  • 2026 Supplemental Health, DI & LTC Conference, Savannah, Georgia

In addition to the major prize, Blake will be invited to:

  • sit on the judging panel for next year’s ATLIS; and
  • speak to his paper at Turks’ Life Matters session to be held in early 2026.

“Shining the spotlight on new solutions to old problems is what ATLIS is all about and Blake really nailed this brief. TPD sustainability is front of mind for all stakeholders, and I suspect this winning paper will be closely read by many interested in solutions”, said Alph Edwards, Partner and Practice Head of Turks' Life Insurance, Superannuation & Financial Advice group and Chair of the ATLIS judging panel.

The first runner-up is Troy Williams, Senior Product Manager, TAL, for his paper on ‘Mental Health and Life Insurance - Does something need to change?’ Troy receives a AU$1,000 Visa prepaid gift card. The second runner-up is Natalie Murdoch, Head of Customer Resolutions and Regulatory, AIA, for her paper on ‘AI and Claims Handling’. Natalie receives a AU$250 restaurant voucher.

The ATLIS winners were announced in October 2025 at the ALUCA Genessi Conference at the Sunshine Coast.

ATLIS will return for its 20th year in mid-2026.
