Geoff joined Turks in 2016 and is the Head of our Brisbane office. Geoff brings with him over 34 years’ experience working with leading institutional clients in Brisbane across a broad range of general commercial litigation, particularly in insurance.

Geoff has worked exclusively in insurance litigation since 1991 and advises across a broad range of liability, recoveries, property and construction, indemnity and life insurance matters.

Major matters that Geoff has been involved in include the successful defence of a Supreme Court claim for injuries sustained when a first floor balcony railing gave way; the Defence of a $15 million fire recovery claim where a detailed and thorough investigation in conjunction with experts uncovered evidence going to cause and liability which enabled the client insurer to obtain a large reduction in the worth of the claim; the defence of very large claim for flooding allegedly caused by the design of a railway line; the defence of a contract works claim involving allegedly faulty rock anchors; recovery actions for fire and third party instigated flooding events in high rise city buildings; the completely successful defence of a $3m claim for a paint failure of the roof of a large shopping complex in the tropics; a large product liability claim for allegedly failed liners in biodiesel storage tanks; defence of a large claim against a company Director; and including in-depth experience handling a range of disputed life insurance group and retail claims on behalf of insurers and trustees, as well as, detailed and complex indemnity, liability and prospects advices across many areas of insurance.

Geoff has also acted for a number of UK based insurers the most recent of which have involved recovery actions for loss of plantations by fire; a complex indemnity advice relating to the loss of a $200,000 diamond ring and liability.
