Jason Banna is a Special Counsel in Turks’ Life Insurance, Superannuation and Financial Advice team, based in the Sydney office.

Jason advises life insurers on complex life insurance and superannuation matters, including disputed claims, superannuation death benefit disputes, anti discrimination complaints and regulatory issues. He regularly acts in litigated and contested matters before AFCA, NCAT, QCAT, and state and federal courts across multiple Australian jurisdictions.

He has significant experience assisting insurers with regulatory reviews, systemic issue investigations and appellate matters, including appeals from AFCA to the Federal Court. Jason also advises on policy interpretation, statutory remedies under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth) and reinsurance disputes.

Jason brings valuable in house experience, having held a senior role at TAL between 2022 and 2025, where he led legal teams across individual and group life insurance, litigation and external dispute resolution. He regularly provides practical, insurer focused advice and is experienced in supervising junior lawyers and supporting claims and risk teams.
