Glenn joined Turks in July 2016 and is a leading dispute resolution and maritime practitioner in Australia having practised in marine and insurance law for over 20 years.
He has broad experience in cargo, bill of lading and charter disputes, hull claims, collision and salvage, and pollution. He has advised a range of underwriters over several decades including P&I Clubs, HIH Winterthur, St Paul and a number of major insurers. He drafted the hull and machinery policy and P&I liability policies of insurance for St Paul when they entered the Australian market.
Prior to entering private practice, Glenn was a Police Prosecutor and has extensive prosecutorial experience in the Local and Magistrates’ Court in relation to heavy vehicle regulations and driving offences, coronial inquests and public liability matters.
He has advised major insurers on aspects of their travel insurance policy wording and recommended changes as well as advising operators including Qantas, P&O, and Carnival on various aspects of its operations including the detention of passengers, liquor licensing laws, customs & import, and GST.
Glenn has acted for the Department of Defence in relation to marine claims arising out of the collision in North Queensland of an Army Barge and yacht through the Great Sandy Straits as well as acting for Aluminium Boats Australia in relation to the total loss of the HMAS Bundaberg during refit in Brisbane.
His experience includes six years in the Middle East (Qatar & the UAE) with an international law firm. During his time in the Middle East he led the maritime and dispute resolution practices in Doha and Abu Dhabi. He has significant experience in construction and infrastructure claims having advised contractors and their insurers in relation to claims arising out of the construction of the Salwa Highway which was subject to ICC arbitration involving both the construction contractors and design engineers. The claim alleged defects in both design and construction.
