Sofia is a highly accomplished insurance litigator with over 15 years’ experience in personal injury and life and disability insurance litigation, complaints handling, dispute resolution and advising corporate clients across all jurisdictions.
Prior to joining TurksLegal, Sofia worked as in-house Senior Legal Counsel at one of Australia’s largest insurance and financial services companies, advising on liability in total and permanent disablement, death, trauma and income protection claims. Sofia advised on policy construction (including the drafting of policy wording), effective claims handling and underwriting, improved operational procedures, dispute resolution and litigation. She acted in complaints before the Financial Ombudsman Service, the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Sofia regularly provides client training sessions on the practical applications of the law.
Sofia’s prior experience includes working at a leading plaintiff law practice, conducting litigation and dispute resolution in life and disability claims, public liability, workers’ compensation, transport accidents, asbestos exposure and class actions.
Sofia’s unique in-house and private practice experience (both plaintiff and defendant) allows her to provide targeted and practical advice to her clients.
Sofia is an active committee member of the ALUCA Victoria sub-group.
