Darryl Pereira is a Partner in the Life Insurance, Superannuation and Advice team at Turks and has over 19 years' experience as a legal practitioner specialising in the financial services sector.
Darryl has extensive experience in advising on life insurance products including drafting and negotiating group and retail policies and product distribution agreements. Darryl has acted on a number of significant and complex group insurance transactions including documenting some of Australia’s largest group life insurance transactions on behalf of life insurers.
He has had major litigation experience acting for financial services licensees and authorised representation in financial service disputes and in acting for life insurers in cases where critical provisions of the Insurance Contracts Act have been in dispute and in other significant cases involving the interpretation of life insurance policies and the duties of insurers.
Darryl is a regular speaker at industry seminars commenting on insurance and financial services law and related issues and is a regular presenter at ANZIIF’s annual group life insurance seminar. Darryl also regularly presents seminars on life insurance issues for clients including CommInsure and TAL. He has also had articles published in the Insurance Law Bulletin and industry publications including Risky e-Business.
Darryl has spent significant periods 'in house' on secondment including placements in the distribution legal teams of major life insurers and wealth management arms of major banks.
Darryl was named as an Acritas Star 2019.
